I Lost My iPod

October 4th, 2007

So I lost my iPod today, I’m pretty bummed about that. I was sitting outside of math class waiting to go in and I had my headphones in. I opened up my laptop and plugged them into that. I must have laid my iPod down next to me while I was doing something on my laptop, but then didn’t pick it up when I went into class. Naturally, when I came out of class it wasn’t still laying there and I didn’t think about it until it was too late.

So, I have a few options:

  1. Buy Jake’s 30GB iPod Video (probably $150-175 w/ accessories?)
  2. Buy a new iPod nano 4GB ($149 before student discount)
  3. Buy a brown Zune (ha…ha…ha)

hmmm….

Why I Hate Bluesboro

October 4th, 2007

So last night I played at Bluesboro with the band Crisis. This is the last time I’ll play with them, and it’s I’ve really enjoyed. That said, let me explain why I hate Bluesboro. We were supposed to go on at 9 or 9:30, so I got there at 8:30 which would give me just enough time to setup and get started.

I arrived on time, setup everything, and then we waited. We did a sound check around 9:30 — whatever that means, seeing as the sound went from bad to bad — then we stopped. We were told to wait a while, so we did. Around 10PM, some random dude briskly walked in off the street with a guitar and walked up on stage. He plugged in and did a “sound check.” We were shocked, who is this guy? Apparently he is the person that was playing before us.

So, we watched as he played and were fully determined he was either coked or cracked out. Not only could you not understand him, but he seemed to occasionally go into convulsions mid-song. Further, he did a few covers that were not covers at all; instead, he just randomly inserted various explicitives into what would normally be a good song. For a single guy with an acoustic guitar, it was overall very disturbing.

So, we were supposed to go on at 9PM but we don’t wind up going on until around 11PM. That is VERY unprofessional on the parts of Bluesboro. I wish Crisis the best of luck now that I’m no longer with them, and I’ll definitely be seeing them the next time they have a gig; but, if I never play at Bluesboro again I will be a very, very happy person.

Crisis Gig Tonight

October 3rd, 2007

Tonight I’m playing with Crisis at Bluesboro here in Murfreesboro, TN. Crisis is the band I’ve been in for a few months now. If you’re in the area, stop by! I think we go on at 9:30.

This will be the last night I play with these guys. I’ve decided to cut back on my music for a while. I’m running out of time at the end of each day and I have to cut back somewhere.

Anyway, it should be a good show so stop by if you can!

Why Microsoft must abandon Vista to save itself

October 2nd, 2007

I ran across this article that I thought might be worth sharing. No — I have never used Vista for a long period of time, but I just might to see how bad it is or isn’t.

Wordpress Upgrade Issues

October 2nd, 2007

So I was upgrading WordPress for a client today, going from version 2.1.1 to 2.3. I uploaded the files, ran the upgrade script and got a bunch of errors. Apparently I had forgotten to give the database user more access than just select, insert and update; the update had to create a few tables. So I went back, edit the database user and gave them full access to the database. I went to run the upgrade script again and it said my database was up to date. Looking at the public blog, I just got a bunch of MySQL errors about the wp_terms table gone missing. Great…So, looking into this further I found how to fix it:

  1.  Change the “db_version” to 3441, which is the version for 2.0.
  2. Re-run the database update script (making sure to have full access for the db user)

All in all, that fixed it!

Here We Go Again…

October 1st, 2007

I’m looking forward to attempting to blog again. I’ve tried this several times before and haven’t had much luck keeping it up, but stick around for a bit and let’s explore how things are going to work out this time around. My hope is to blog about all things technology, general things in my life, politics and anything else I forgot to list. :-)
